Bridge International Academies is the world’s largest chain of primary and pre-primary schools with more than 360 academies and 100,000 pupils in Kenya. We democratize the right to succeed by giving families living in poverty access to the high-quality education that will allow their children to live a very different life. We leverage experts, data, and technology in order to standardize and scale every aspect of quality education delivery, from how and where academies are built to how teachers are selected and trained, and how lessons are delivered and monitored for improvement. We are vertically-integrated, tech-enabled, and on our way to profitability. Bridge expects to continue rapid expansion in Kenya, and will be launching operations in Uganda and Nigeria in 2015.

Position Overview


As the Talent Acquisition Director for Bridge International, you will have the opportunity to join a fast-scaling global startup and shape the organisation by developing a highly effective talent pipeline for both middle and upper management positions in Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda, and India.


Your responsibilities will include developing a brand strategy around Bridge’s strengths as an employer that creates a strong and competitive value proposition for top-level talent in management, operations, human resources and others. You’ll work closely with upper management and ensure a shared understanding of the strategy and value proposition amongst internal customers and external prospects.


You’ll also be responsible for building and maintain relationships with recruiters, academic and professional groups, and with a wider audience through use of social media and other targeted outreach to key audiences. This would include coordination of on-campus recruiting, job fairs, conferences, and other opportunities to connect with audiences interested in for-profit education space.


The ideal candidate will have a strong ability to multi-task and take ownership of the current talent acquisition process from the get-go. You’re an extremely effective communicator, both written and verbal, and are energized by interacting with people, building relationships, and networking. These things come naturally to you and are what you crave in your working life. A keen sense of ownership, speedy execution, and scrappiness is a must. The candidate is equally comfortable as an individual contributor as well as a leader who can drive the efforts of a team.


What You Should Have



  • Bachelor’s degree with superior academic performance; MBA or post-graduate degree a plus

  • Extensive headhunting/recruitment experience, particularly with building senior leadership teams

  • Prior experience building up a Talent Acquisition function – establishing processes, metrics, hiring a team, etc.

  • Experience with establishing, maintaining and leveraging C-level relationships at partner companies

  • We particularly value leadership experience in extreme growth situations, spanning multiple geographies

  • Sub-Sarahan Africa networks a major plus


Location


We are open to discussion about where you are located, but would prefer that you be based in Nairobi, Kenya, at least for a few months, to familiarise yourself with our operations. Extensive travel required as part of this role.
