Location: Nairobi
Salary: Ksh 50,000 – 80,000 Gross Our client is an electrical engineering solution provider company specializing in the design, manufacturing and servicing of electrical switchboards, control panels, telecom shelters, switchgears etc.
They are also channel partners for ABB Low Voltage automation products. They seek to hire an Electrical Engineer in charge of Quality control.
- Testing of Control Systems, Low Voltage (LV) Power Generation Switchboards and associated Distribution equipments
- Visual, mechanical and electrical inspections of bought out components and finished product like LV switchboards, Motor Control Centre (MCC) Panels etc.
- Functional testing of Control Systems and LV Switchgear upto 1000V AC at 45Hz to 70Hz
- Verify instrument and protection device functioning by primary and secondary injection.
- Presenting the equipment to authorities and customer during full Factory acceptance
- Production of survey/inspection reports, completing and signing off test records
- Perform preliminary, intermediate, or final test and inspection operations on all types of switchboards, sub-assemblies, and associated switchgear components
- Make test set-ups and wiring connections, often with complex variable elements, using measuring instruments, electrical meters, recording apparatus, phantom load, hi-pot insulation resistance (Megohm test), and similar equipment.
- Use computers and related interface as required.
- By using ERP software makes the test reports.
- Test electrical operating features and make continuity cross-current, dielectric and megger tests using full-power, low, or high voltages as required.
- Test relays and controls; check timing, inspect assemblies for completeness and proper mechanical functioning.
- Check part type and location.
- Follow standard test procedures, specification sheets, service data, code standards, process sheets, bills-of-materials, drawings, and schematic diagrams to interpret tolerances, performance data and test sequence.
- Make adjustments on test equipment to complete tests series satisfactorily or reject defective units until corrections are made.
- Prepare test reports with discrepancy lists and keep required records.
- Test designs under direction of the supervisor
- Instruct and direct junior employees
- Work with outside inspectors and/or customers demonstrating electrical circuits, construction, and operation of switchgear
- Ensure compliance of switchgears to specifications and standards.
- Observe all safety regulations as required
Qualifications & Skills
- Degree in Electrical Engineering
- 2 to 4 years experience especially in quality control and switch gears
- Knowledge of IEC Standard & familiar with electrical Test for LV switchgears
- Must Aware of Class Rules
- Excellent Electrical Engineering knowledge
- Hardworking, talented, ambitious with passion to excel
- Organizing, planning, and prioritizing skills
