Standard Chartered Bank Job Vacancy in Kenya : Head, Wealth Management Products and Sales





























Job Description


As a key pillar within Wealth Management, maximize the revenue opportunity for the Bank by providing financial markets access, advice and products to Commercial & Retail client segments for the Africa Region within a robust operating environment. The incumbent will work closely with senior managers of Wealth Management (WM), the relevant client segments and Financial Markets (FM) to identify business opportunities for the long term growth of our Africa franchise.


Key Roles & Responsibilities


Business Performance Management:

• To achieve the financial budget for WMPS.

• Manage a team of Markets Product Specialists/Product Managers/Treasury Specialists dealing in Foreign Exchange, Fixed Income, Structured Products and derivatives to provide best in class access for the relevant client segments

• Leverage on Africa & Group resources to expand WMPS for both sales and product capabilities in Africa.

• Through regular coaching and guidance develop a highly motivated, professional and talented team in the region.

• Ensure WMPS team complies with all measures of business risk controls.

• As part of Africa management assume responsibility for the continuous development of our Africa franchise and long term growth ambition.

• Be a part of the Financial Markets extended team by attending FM business and control meetings when required, especially where there are any issues with risk aggregation, client MTM, new product ideas and development.

• Be a Thought Leader on all matters pertaining to WMPS for the Region.
Compliance & Risk Management :

 Ensure compliance with Group policies on an ongoing basis across the business and by all staff.

 Be acutely aware and ensure adherence to policies relating to operational risk, sales processes and mis-selling of WMPS products.

 Manage and mitigate operational, reputational and business risks across the business in the Region.

 Ensure plans are established to resolve such risks across the business in the Region.

 Ensure staff understand and comply with all provisions of the Group Code of Conduct/FM Code of Conduct.

 With the relevant stakeholders, manage all internal and group audits for the business.

People Management :

 Ensure the function is appropriately staffed by persons with the right qualifications and experience.

 Ensure that organization structure and development activity is appropriate for the delivery of plans and targets.

 Provide leadership, coaching and support to the team members by setting objectives, managing performance, identifying development needs and fulfilling training requirements.

 Establish and own staff succession plans.




Qualifications & Skills


University Graduate, professional qualification/certification is a bonus.

Hands on experience of managing FM or WMPS sales unit of between 6 to 10 years.

Track record of setting up new business units and running them.

Keen eye for reviewing and improving /fixing FM or WMPS processes, to mitigate OR.

Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.

Excellent leadership qualities with ability to motivate team members.

Strong communication, negotiation skills, sensitivity to local cultural issues.

Good stakeholder management skills.
