Bridge International Academies is revolutionizing the way families across the developing world access quality education through our innovative ‘Academy-in-a-Box’ model of schooling. As of June 2014 Bridge is operating over 300 academies throughout Kenya with nearly 100,000 pupils. As one of the fastest growing education companies in the world, Bridge is set to expand its network of academies into Nigeria and Uganda in 2015 with plans for expansion into India on the horizon.


We’re currently seeking an additional Operations Programme Manager to join our current team of three working within the broader Operations department. This OPM will own the vertical within Ops relating to customer acquisition, retention, and community engagement. If you’re someone who has significant experience working with low-income communities in a development context, a keen eye to detail, and a strong desire to impact our organization from both a business and academic perspective, then this position may be a great fit for you.


As an Operations Programme Manager for Bridge, you join a fast-scaling global startup and will shape the organization by working closely with the Marketing department to operationalize initiatives and support efforts to increase pupil attendance and retention. Responsibilities include integrating successful marketing pilot programmes into Operations’ normal activities and monitoring the progress of these initiatives to ensure they are being implemented effectively at scale. For Operations Programme Managers, the challenge is not only to operate at this scale, but to ensure effective delivery of a complex education service in some of the world’s most difficult operating environments.


The ideal candidate for this position will have a strong ability to multi-task and take ownership of the current activities related to customer acquisition and retention from the get-go. You’re an extremely effective communicator, both written and verbal, and are energized by interacting with people, working across departments and drawing on your expert knowledge of the communities we serve. In addition, you are able to work effectively with technology and data and have use both in your daily work to help organizations reach their objectives. A keen sense of ownership, speedy execution, and scrappiness is a must. The successful candidate is equally comfortable as an individual contributor as well as a manager who can drive the efforts of a team.

  • Billing and Payments (and Grace, Dire Extension, Hardship Programmes)

EXPERIENCE PROFILE



  • Work experience in a highly operational role in a data-driven organization. This includes creating and maintaining advanced spreadsheets in Excel or other database software



  • Record of building data-driven operational systems



  • Experience working at scale or taking an idea from inception to scale



  • Work experience in emerging markets, particularly Sub-Saharan Africa



  • Work experience managing and coordinating several teams to deliver on a tight schedule



  • Experience in large-scale retail, consumer products or service industries a plus
