About the Affiliate
Novo Nordisk Middle Africa business unit was formed in early 2012. Novo Nordisk has an established presence with human insulin across Middle Africa and our focus today is to sustain the growth of the market, ensure availability of better quality modern insulin within the markets and support the communities living with diabetes.
The position is based in Kenya and reports to Middle Africa Finance and Legal Manager with a dotted line to Business Area Africa (BAAF) Legal & Compliance Manager.The person will be a member of Middle Africa Management Team. The position will be deployed as of 01.01.2015.
The job
The affiliate is looking for a Legal & Compliance Counsel to have support in matters in relation to business ethics, contracts, pharma law, labor and employee issues, marketing, competition law, litigation and dispute resolution.
As Legal & Compliance Counsel, you will advise and counsel the organization for matters in relation to contracts, litigation, intellectual property, corporate governance, securities, compliance, regulatory, antitrust, distributor agreements, and employment matters. You will cooperate with BAAF Legal team on projects and issues of BAAF. You will interact with external consultants regarding procedural issues, litigations and other potential disputes. You will assist establishing good corporate governance, e.g. appropriate legal structures for Novo Nordisk affiliates, maintaining good legal records etc. You will work with Corporate Legal as well as members of Global Legal Board and International Operations (IO) Legal Group on all inter-company arrangements countries. You will provide Novo Nordisk Way trainings to the affiliate. You will provide informed and effective ad-hoc advice on business ethics and compliance issues. You will travel frequently (30%) to Middle Africa countries.
Qualifications
You hold a Law Degree from a reputable university. You have at least 5 years of experience in a private law firm or a multinational company (preferably in pharmaceutical sector). You are proficient in English and French. You have strong communication and negotiation skills. You have solid understanding of the risks facing the global pharmaceutical industry. You are a team player; you are innovative and initiative. You have a strong awareness of cultural differences and ability to work in international settings.
