The Company

Our Client, the United Nations Federal Credit Union (UNFCU) is a member-owned, not-for-profit cooperative institution that serves the financial needs of the United Nations staff, UN specialized agencies, and their families globally. In its quest to consolidate this global commitment, UNFCU would like to recruit a performance driven, results oriented and innovative professional, to fill the position of IT Analyst III – Network, Nairobi UN duty Station.


POSITION PURPOSE

This position provides network services to support the organization’s business operations and growth. This includes configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting network infrastructure, server, storage, and telecommunications systems.


NATURE AND SCOPE

This position reports to the Manager – IT Infrastructure, along with incumbents in the roles of IT Analyst II – Network, Network Engineer and Sr. Network Engineer.


This position ensures the availability of the organization’s voice and data network, and manages system rollouts and depositions.




Roles & Responsibilities

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Troubleshoot technical issues and provide timely problem remedies

Provide Tier 2 Service Desk Support

Manage time and maintain service record and knowledge base; clearly specify network problems and resolutions

Configure and maintain Windows domain user accounts

Configure, patch, and maintain physical and virtual enterprise Windows servers

Configure and maintain Windows servers to provide network services as required by the organization

Support video/voice conferencing

Follow the organization’s data protection and network securities and antivirus policies

Assist in maintaining enterprise wide software licensing compliance

Manage and run copper and fiber network cabling

Configure and maintain network resources including, but not limited to, AD group policies, DNS and DCHP

Install, configure, and maintain applications and system software as required by the organization

Update and install system patches and firmware according to organization policy

Attend business meetings; document and communicate network requirements

Provide documentation for organization specified System Configurations, Operation Run books, Policies and Procedures

Cross train team members

Attend staff training to fulfill NCUA regulations and organization policy

Attend online or classroom training for new technologies, as required by the organization’s business needs


With organization provided technical training and vendor support, an incumbent in this position is also expected to assist in supporting the following activities.


Maintain fax servers

Manage auto attendant messages

Support VOIP phone rollouts/depositions

Create mailboxes and support MS Outlook

Support Blackberry and other corporate mobile devices

Administer and monitor backups and restore for files, and manage tapes

Configure, patch, and maintain Sparc Solaris servers

Configure and maintain CISCO devices

Configure and maintain MPLS, T1 and DSL for WAN connection with the support from Telco providers

Support Data Center rack space, cooling and power



Requirements

An incumbent in this position must possess a full range of networking knowledge, as well as the skills/abilities to fulfill the accountabilities described in this document. Work assignments require the use of problem solving skills on issues that are complex and evaluative in nature where troubleshooting may call for referencing an advanced knowledge base. Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills and professional appearance are essential.


A typical pathway to obtaining the requisite knowledge and skills is graduation from university with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science and at least four years of progressive IT professional work experience. Professional Certifications (VCP, MCSE, or CCNP) preferred.
