Job Vacancy: Construction Site Manager
Our Client in a construction company is urgently seeking to fill the above position in Nairobi. Education Requirement
- Higher diploma in construction and management
- Degree will be an added advantage
- Three years experience preferably from a contractors company
Duties and Responsibilities
- Preparing the site and liaising with other construction professionals such as architects, engineers, buyers, estimators and surveyors before construction work starts
- Schedule the project in logical steps and budget time required to meet deadlines. i.e developing the program of work and strategy for making the project happen
- planning ahead to prevent problems on site before they occur, for example, planning the delivery and storage of equipment and materials
- Obtain all necessary permits and licenses.
- Making safety inspections of the site when work is underway and ensuring regulations relating to health, safety and the environment (HSE) are adhered to.
- overseeing the running of several projects
- plan smooth work flows
- communicating with a range of people including the client, subcontractors, suppliers, the public and the workforce
- Determine labor requirements and dispatch workers to construction sites.
- Direct and supervise workers.
- Select, contract, and oversee workers who complete specific pieces of the project, such as painting or plumbing.
- Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to administrative staff, workers, and clients, representing the owner or developer.
- Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Study job specifications to determine appropriate construction methods.
- Requisition supplies and materials to complete construction projects.
- Prepare and submit budget estimates and progress and cost tracking reports.
- Develop and implement quality control programs.
- Take actions to deal with the results of delays, bad weather, or emergencies at construction site.
- Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems.
- Investigate damage, accidents, or delays at construction sites, to ensure that proper procedures are being carried out.
- Evaluate construction methods and determine cost-effectiveness of plans.
