Job Purpose/Objective


The Communications Project Intern will provide assistance in documentation and media work for PIK. The Project Intern should have exposure in Communications and Media work and have a passion for gender equality.


Key Responsibilities



  • Working alongside the Communications officer to gather information on gender based violence (GBV) related issues in all the areas where PIK is working

  • Compiling and editing stories from the PIK Implementing Partners

  • Assist in developing and designing of messages and IEC materials (visual and audio visual) in line with IRC and USAID branding and marking procedures

  • Mobilize and cover PIK project events; take shots, caption and file the photos taken

  • Media tracking and monitoring for all events where PIK is covered; filing media publications and footages that cover on PIK Project

  • Assist in packaging and distribution of PIK Project Monthly Magazine to the specified PIK Project target audiences

  • Assist in developing PIK activity Messages for updating on the Project social media pages (facebook and Twitter) and IRC website as per the schedule from IRC HQ.

  • Any other assignment as may be assigned by Communications Project Officer.


Required Qualifications



  • A degree in Development Communication and Media studies

  • Training in Peace and Gender issues would be an added advantage


Required Experience & Competencies:



  • Demonstrable experience with social media platforms

  • Demonstrable ability to write good articles

  • Ability to proof read and editing skills

  • Design and layout of artworks for IEC Materials

  • Photography and video shooting/editing skills

  • Commitment to social justice
