An exciting opportunity for a senior Finance leader to contribute to the fast growing Wrigley East Africa business as a key member of the region’s management team. The role provides sound business decision support to the General Manager and the management team through the accurate monitoring, reporting, and analysing of financial results and projections while also ensuring compliance with financial, accounting, and treasury corporate policies. In addition the role provides financial and business leadership through the provision of actionable insights, driving positive change and assisting the business to move forward. The incumbent leads and manages the Finance team to ensure functional effectiveness and excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide business decision support and financial & business leadership to the General Manager. Work closely with the East Africa management team and the Middle East & Africa regional leadership team on strategic, commercial and business development issues.
- Build business partnerships with local management in order to achieve annual and long term organisational objectives.
- Assist in identifying and employing interventions that will enhance the financial capability of non-finance peers.
- Drive the exploitation of the company’s investment in information systems and SAP in particular.
- Provide sound and timely financial reports. Overall responsibility for accounting (General Ledger) and financial management; overseeing the preparation of all financial reports including income statements, balance sheets, monthly key drivers and best estimates, consolidated statements. Monitor and analyze financial reports and records, properly communicate them to the Management team and pro-actively identify issues and initiate corrective actions where needed. Coordinate the annual audit function.
- Develop accurate plans and projections of future financial results. Formulate company strategy, prepare annual budgets and revisions and cash flow forecasts, analyse business performance of actual results vs forecast. Measure financial impact of current and future business decisions.
- Lead, motivate, manage and develop the finance department. Ensure the right finance organization is in place with the best talent in each position.
- Develop, implement and maintain sound management controls to ensure compliance with overall Company control requirements, such as Instructions for Finance, Control and Operations (IFCO) and other Business Procedures. Maintain adequate systems of internal control needed to safeguard assets, ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with Wrigley parent company accounting systems and procedures, i.e. US GAAP and Corporate Financial Instructions. Ensure financial statements and reports are prepared in compliance with statutory and other regulatory requirements.
- Ensure the company is fully compliant with current tax legislation including timely filing of tax returns.
- Work on special projects as assigned by the General Manager and Regional Finance Director.Qualifications
Education & Professional Qualification:
• Economic education, with a university degree.
• Chartered Accountant or similar qualification required.Knowledge & Experience:
- Minimum 6 years management experience, preferably in an international FMCG company.
- Demonstrated understanding of US GAAP and a working knowledge of SAP R/3.
- Experience in providing world-class governance and financial operations – financial control, accounting and financial process.
- Has contributed to a high performing business through financial analysis and insights, financial shaping and decision making, and strategy development.
- Experience in optimizing financial structures through risk, tax, treasury, Investment, pay and benefits management.Key Competencies:
