Certified Public Secretary Careers in Kenya- March 2015


Our client, an international professional services firm that provides audit, accounting, legal, tax and business consulting services for international businesses, is looking to hire a Certified Public Secretary for its Kenya Office.


The Certified Public Secretary will primarily be responsible for ensuring that the company’s clients comply with standard financial and legal practice and maintains standards of corporate governance. He/she will also be responsible for acting as the Company Secretary.


Certified Public Secretary Job Responsibilities



  • Advising on the legal, governance, accounting and tax implications of proposed policies;

  • Monitoring changes in relevant legislation and the regulatory environment and taking appropriate action;

  • Developing and overseeing the systems that ensure a company complies with all applicable codes, in addition to its legal and statutory requirements;

  • Researching, anticipating and guarding company against legal risks;

  • Interpreting laws, rulings and regulations;

  • Analyzing the probable outcomes of cases, using knowledge of legal precedents;

  • Evaluating findings and develop strategies and arguments in preparation for presentation of cases;

  • Gathering evidence to formulate defence or to initiate legal actions, by such means as interviewing clients and witnesses to ascertain the facts of a case;

  • Preparing and drafting legal documents;

  • Drafting shareholders’ agreements;

  • Undertaking company formations and giving advice on business structures;

  • Undertaking/participating in legal due diligence exercises;

  • Preparing legal briefs and opinions; and

  • Perform administrative and management functions related to the practice of law.


Certified Public Secretary Job Qualifications:



  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Law;

  • Must be a Certified Public Secretary;

  • A minimum of five (5) year experience as a Company Secretary from reputable corporate entity or professional services firm;

  • Commercial experience in law;

  • Must possess a license to practice law;

  • Entrepreneurial spirit and strong team focus;

  • Excellent negotiation and communications skills;

  • Administrative and managerial skills;

  • Analytical ability; and

  • Ability to pay attention to detail.
