Job Description: Technical Sales Agronomist Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain a consistent level of commitment to selling client Crop Protection products, differentiating products and services and build relationships with retailers, Pioneer Sales Representatives, distributors, and farmers.
- Coach retailers with agronomic and product benefit information to enhance selling activity. Differentiate products and services and build relationships with key farmers using agronomic and technical skills.
- Continually teach distributors and retailers in coordination with Rams new and better ways to meet the needs of the customer. Ensure that all have the necessary technical skills and information needed to meet expectations.
- Manage the relationship with Pioneer Sales Account Managers and Sales Reps to enhance the joint bundled offering of seed and Client chemistry to farmers.
- Understand customer needs and provide feedback up and down the organization on product performance, program effectiveness and competitive activity.
- Actively gather and communicate market conditions and trends; customer needs and values and product gaps in order to allow the business to create or modify product offerings.
- Implement marketing programs and evaluate retailer performance at the end of the season.
- Manage assigned expense PO within budget.
Technical:
- Build and maintain relationships with customers and new prospects to promote sell & service Client Crop Protection products and other crop production products aligned with market strategies.
- Provide high quality agronomic information to joint Client and Pioneer key farmers to maximize acres of Pioneer seed and sales of Client crop protection chemistry.
- Identify customer and geography needs and communicate these needs to Area Sales Manager and retail Account Managers.
- Coordinate with support groups to transfer needed information to the field distributors, retailers, influencers and Pioneer employees and their seed agents.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of associated Client Crop Protection products and services.
- Manage key farmer relationships by providing sound agronomic and technical advice on products and farming systems
Qualifications Education: BS or advanced degree in natural sciences, agronomy or related science. Previous sales experience and knowledge of crop protection market desirable.
Demonstrated knowledge of:
- Environmental, regulatory, and stewardship issues of Client CPP & other competitive products at the local/regional level.
- Client, competitive product/service offerings; local agricultural markets; value chain and production practices.
- Crop inputs, technical support, agronomy , cropping systems and agricultural practices
Demonstrated skills in:
- Selling & marketing products and services
- Negotiating win-win strategies, conflict resolution and handling objections by taking initiative & finding creative solutions.
- Getting desired results by following agreed upon plans.
- Identifying and using effective methods for collecting, interpreting & communicating market, customer & competitive data.
Demonstrated ability to:
- Clearly communicate with customers and peers.
- Effectively work in a team environment and network with peers
- Build/maintain strong relationships with customers, key industry/market influencers, Client, Pioneer and partners to meet goals within a team environment.
- Effectively manage accounts to satisfy customer needs by understanding customer and Company requirements for success.
- Work independently with minimum supervision and operate within budget.
- Work in and adapt to a rapidly changing business environment.
- Identify opportunities for competitive advantages with new and existing products in the marketplace.
