The Assistant Code Compliance Officer is responsible for supporting the drive of a compliance culture with Unilever’s Code of Business Principles and Code Policies (the Code) and assisting in developing local due diligence procedures and other business controls. The Assistant Code Compliance Officer is also a member of the Code Officer community to drive development of Unilever’s Global Code compliance strategy.
The Assistant Code Compliance Officer provides compliance and investigation expertise at MCO level. This will include operating across all areas of the “winning with integrity” model:
· Countering corruption (bribery, conflicts of interest, fraud, theft, money laundering)
· Safeguarding Information (restricted information, information sharing externally, data privacy)
· Respecting people (discrimination, harassment, forced labour, freedom of association)
· Engaging externally (fair competition, supplier compliance, consumer and social medial compliance)
Key Responsibilities
PREVENTION
- Education and Awareness:
- Support the implementation of education and awareness programmes
- Local education of factories and other business units where required
- New joiner awareness
- Leaver exit process
- Annual declarations
- Monitoring and reporting of global education programmes
DETECTION
- Promoting reporting channels
- Ensure that MCO hotlines are accessible via a freephone number and that this is communicated
- Manage Code investigations system (EthicsPoint) and quality of data input
RESPONSE
- Code case handling and Investigations (breaches):
- Case management in conformance with defined global standards
- Investigations support and provide oversight to cases assigned
- Case documentation and work flow
- Documenting control and process failures
- Reporting and tracking of process improvements
- Quality assurance and best practice
- Reporting on Code case statistics
- Incident response
- Being a point of contact for incidents reported
- In certain circumstances to advise and consult in relation to an investigation and lessons learntGOVERNANCE

Key Skills and Qualifications
- B.Sc. in any social science field e.g. criminology, sociology or law
- 3-4 years’ experience in criminal investigation (economic crime/ workplace crime)
- This role would be suited to an individual with a combination of investigation and capacity building skills.
- The individual must have experience in carrying out criminal and economic crimes investigations.
