The Project Manager will be responsible for leading and managing key projects for IBM Global Business Services (GBS). This position will be responsible for implementing structured processes that ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and with the appropriate level of quality that IBM’s clients expect. The Project Manager will be the primary liaison with client counterparts, and will work with clients to manage expectations. The Project Manager will be responsible for proactively identifying, analyzing, tracking, mitigating, and responding to project risk. The Project Manager will aggressively manage scope, while simultaneously looking for opportunities to improve IBM’s presence within a given client.
Responsibilities:
Acts as a subject matter expert for managing and executing projects.
Drives the development and management of the Requirements Traceability Matrix for assigned projects. Manages delivery of services that meet prescribed client requirements.
Leads, facilitates, and executes all project management related meetings with the client (e.g. status meetings, risk/issue meetings, etc.).
Manages client expectations and drives the project team to executing with discipline in order to meet scope, schedule, and budget objectives.
Takes accountability for results and holds team members accountable for results. Actively identifies and replaces underperforming team members, while providing coaching and mentoring to other team members that are capable of adding value.
Understands complex issues and is able to break them down into simpler components and assign these components to the project team to ensure that all team members are fully engaged and utilized.
Actively looks for new and creative ways to add value and to expand IBM’s footprint with assigned clients.
Works well under tight deadlines and is able to think clearly under pressure.
Communicates effectively with the client, with team members, and with IBM management and stakeholders.
Requirements
BS degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business or equivalent experience is required
Demonstrated knowledge of key technologies/concepts/platforms including HTML 5, responsive design, USSD, iOS, Android, NFC, etc.
Familiarity with one or more key technologies related to mobile, cloud, and analytics/data warehousing, and/or custom application development is required.
Ability to deal effectively with uncertainty and driving the team to meet objectives in the absence of perfect information is required.
Knowledge of Project Management processes, theory, and discipline is required. PMP or equivalent training/certification is preferred.
Must be able to construct and maintain an Integrated Master Schedule that contains a sufficiently well-defined work breakdown schedule.
Excellent systems documentation and architecture design skills
