MAJOR PURPOSE :



  • Leads dealer and/or direct sales and marketing efforts for products/services to high sales potential strategic governmental, national and/or rental customers in the public and/or private sectors.

  • Manages customer relationships, identifies future growth potential and negotiates sales agreements for an assigned customer group, market segment or specific geographic region in order to provide sales and profitable growth.


MAJOR DUTIES : Description of the major duties performed in this job.



  • Establishes and achieves sales budget(s).

  • Establishes and maintains effective customer relationships by understanding their unique needs through development and execution of customer business plans.

  • Serves as a single point of contact that coordinates internal and dealer resources, to make it easier for customer(s) to do business with John Deere.

  • Gathers and integrates appropriate customer/market data into a strategy enabling an optimal response to customer requirements.

  • Secures, analyzes and maintains Deere and competitive pricing data, to ensure utilization of prudent discounts on all customer quote opportunities.

  • Contributes, positively, to current and future department growth and development, through delivery of credible market insight and analysis on a particular customer, industry or industries.


Technical Skills & Knowledge :


Specialized skills, knowledge and abilities needed to perform the essential functions of the job.



  • Demonstrated sales and marketing skills. – Has a good understanding of the principles and can independently use the knowledge.

  • Successful negotiating and selling skills. – Has a good understanding of the principles and can independently use the knowledge.

  • Knowledge of dealers and other channels. – Has a good understanding of the principles and can independently use the knowledge.

  • Skill in interpersonal communications, negotiation, and conflict resolution. – Has a general

  • understanding of the principles and uses the knowledge with assistance.

  • Knowledge of products and services offered by the appropriate area of responsibility. – Has a good understanding of the principles and can independently use the knowledge.


What It Takes

Education :


Formal education or training required to perform the essential functions of the job. Includes degrees, certifications, licenses and/or registration requirements.



  • Degree in a Business/Management discipline or equivalent experience. – University Degree (4 years or equivalent)

  • Degree in an Agricultural Sciences discipline or equivalent experience. – University Degree (4 years or equivalent)


Relevant Work Experiences :


Type and amount of experience necessary to perform the essential functions of the job. May include specific


roles and/or an understanding of a particular function, organization, industry or product line.



  • Sales experience, preferably within a John Deere unit or division. – 1 – 3 years

  • Dealer/distributor development. – 1 – 3 years

  • Field sales and/or product support experience. – 1 – 3 years

  • Field experience with regular customer contact, knowledge of dealer/distribution network, limited


geographic area of responsibility, and broad product knowledge. – 1 – 3 years
