Engine Specialist / Mechanic – Mombasa
This position is based in Mombasa.
Key Responsibilities;
- The ideal candidate’s knowledge and mechanical experience must cover all European type trucks, like Mercedez, Man, Scania, etc.
- Perform all types of Engine and vehicle setup and repairs in the workshop.
- Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure that they are in proper operating condition.
- Adjust and reline brakes, align wheels, tighten bolts and screws, and reassemble equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery.
- Test drive trucks to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure that they are working properly.
- Rebuild or overhaul diesel engines.
- Conduct or direct system-level automotive testing, failure variation, or root cause analyses.
- Inspect vehicles for damage and record findings so that necessary repairs can be made.
- Estimate costs of vehicle repair, troubleshoot fuel, ignition, brake systems and emissions control systems,
- Repair or replace defective ball joint suspensions, brake shoes, or wheel bearings, align wheels, axles, frames, torsion bars, and steering mechanisms.
- Tune automobile engines to ensure proper and efficient functioning.
Desired Education Background, Experience, Competencies and Skills;
- A relevant education or College Diploma in Automotive / Mechanical Engineering.
- Extensive experience in working with and major repairs of European type trucks.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions, work with speed and efficiency on assigned duties.
- Ability to prioritize and schedule maintenance effectively and proactively plan for the same.
- Good problem identification and problem solving skills, critical thinking and analysis of problems.
