Hotel Overview:Fairmont The Norfolk Hotel has played a leading role in Kenya’s colorful history, and continues to be Nairobi’s finest and best-known luxury hotel. The town and later the modern city of Nairobi grew up around Fairmont The Norfolk hotel, which boasts 165 guest rooms and suites, and still has its own private tropical gardens. The hotel is still the traditional starting point for safaris and the Lord Delamere Terrace is modern Nairobi’s most famous meeting place, where drinks and light meals are served continuously from morning until midnight.
* *Summary of Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Group Director of Sales & Marketing Manager Kenya, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Consistently offers professional, engaging and friendly service
- Developing and executing public relations programs within the hotel and local/regional markets.
- Developing and executing marketing campaigns within the hotel and local/regional markets.
- Developing and maintaining an issues awareness program and crisis communications program.
- Assisting sales, rooms, spa and food and beverage in creating promotional programs with media outlets (radio, TV, print).
- Assisting Director of Sales & Marketing Kenya with off season promotions, packaging and the marketing of communication tools.
- Evaluate, create and coordinate the advertising, marketing and promotional initiatives of Fairmont Kenya.
- Writing, developing, producing and distributing press kits, releases and photo releases as necessary.
- Being a key contact within the hotel for the media, industry partners and the community.
- Developing/creating promotional events that assist non profit groups within the community while raising the profile of Fairmont Kenya.
- Developing and building positive relationships with media and industry partners in key markets.
- Developing joint regional and national promotional opportunities with other Fairmont properties.
- Developing and maintaining all media mailing lists and contact information.
- Maintaining an up to date photo library, including a photographic record of all media and special events.
- Conduct media familiarization trips as needed.
- Playing a key role in the environmental stewardship of our property
- Other duties as assigned
Employee Status
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in Marketing and/or Public Relations in a leadership role preferred
- Bachelors Degree and/or Hotel Management Degree with focus on marketing hospitality an asset
- Imaginative, creative, out of the box thinker
- Previous sales experience an asset
- Must be computer literate in the following programs: Word, Excel, Powerpoint. Adobe Creative Suite specifically InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator
- Must be Social Media and online savvy – well versed in Facebook, Twitter
- Must be results oriented with ability to be flexible
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills essential
- Must be organized and able to work well under pressure
- A team player with proven leadership ability and positive attitude
- Must be self-motivated and able to make decisions while handling numerous projects at one time
