Our client is a market leader in manufacturing of mattresses, beds and related accessories, who are looking to recruit a Head of Production , for their manufacturing function in Nairobi Kenya. Position Overview: Reporting to the Managing Director, the position will oversee the manufacturing process and ensure that production lines are running smoothly and efficiently, to guarantee production within set timelines and quality for overall customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Ensure adequate staff management in relation to setting of targets, staff discipline, leave management and adequate address of staff issues.
- Provide production plans and budgets based on sound business forecasts.
- Overall responsibility of housekeeping, health and safety of staff in the workshop.
- Provide timescales for customer orders and ensure timely completion.
- Translate product sale projections into material requirements and requisitions to Procurement staff to ensure continuous production.
- Ensure availability and timely provision of raw materials and maintain an inventory of consumables.
- Work together with production and maintenance supervisors to plan work and set targets for all production staff.
- Monitor and facilitate production activities to ensure daily scheduled outputs are met at optimal efficiency.
- Ensure cost-effectiveness in the production process with minimum wastage of manpower, time and material resources.
- Set quality standards and ensure all products conform to established specifications.
- Analyze performance reports of machines and equipment to minimize machine downtime and ensure consistency in work flow of the production lines.
- Monitor production schedules and make adjustments where problems occur.
- Forecast trends in mattress and bed technology and processes.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production option
- At least 7 years experience in production, 3 years of which should be as a Production Manager in a dynamic manufacturing environment
- Demonstrable experience in high output, quality productions, cost control and excellent people management
- Demonstrable experience in implementation of Kaizen
- Experience in mattress manufacturing will be an added advantage
- Proficiency in ICT with excellent MS Office ability
- Excellent leadership and problem solving skills
- Excellent planning and coordination skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability relate with clients at all levels
