Job Description:
Purpose of job:
To implement financial policies for budgets, cash management, accounting, auditing and financial reporting,
ensuring compliance to the legal framework, dictated by industry and statutory bodies required to manage
the organisation, whilst maintaining relationships with external stakeholders including the bankers, auditors
and service providers. Lead and manage the function through nurturing a culture of oneness, with a focus on
working together to achieve business goals, in addition to harnessing cross-functional relationships. Ensure
functional accountability through clear process management, with a focus on managing resources to
achieve overall business goals. Liaise with the Executive to form strategy and give direction in order to
achieve overall corporate goals. Manage internal processes and systems so as to ensure best practice in
the management of operations, with a focus on continuous improvements and controls.
Key responsibilities:
Strategy:
Partner with the Executive on operational and strategic issues, providing recommendations based on
financial analysis and projections, cost identification and allocation, and revenue/expense analysis.
Participate in the ongoing strategic planning process as an integral member of the leadership team.
Oversee long-term budgetary planning and cost management in alignment with the organisation’s strategic
plan.
Oversees the continual improvement of accounting and administrative operational systems, processes and
policies in support of organisation’s mission.
Play a significant role in long-term implementation planning, leading initiatives geared toward operational
excellence.
Engage the Board Finance Committee around issues, trends and changes affecting the operating model
and operational delivery of the organisation.
Financial and Operations Management:
Oversee overall financial management, planning, systems and controls for the organisation.
Oversee the general accounting function, which includes company transactions, cash
management/reconciliation for multiple accounts, financial reporting and balance sheet management, in
addition to stock control and asset management.
Ensure that the organisation’s financial records are maintained in compliance with organisational policies
and statutory/legal requirements.
Create and manage the organisational budget in coordination with the Executive and Functions Heads.
Ensure organisation of fiscal documents and corporate records, incompliance statutory/legal requirements.
Participate in regular meetings with the Executive around fiscal planning.
In collaboration with the Executive, develop annual budgets, monitor revenue and expenses to insure
compliance.
Monitor financial performance of the organisation.
Review accounting activities to ensure that a standard level of internal controls and audit procedures and
techniques are applied.
Responsible for the oversight and review of organization payroll, monthly/quarterly account reconciliations
and other filings to ensure compliance.
Develop work procedures or processes to provide the necessary controls on the organisation’s assets,
including stock and fleet.
Monitor contract compliance, including timely reporting and billing.
Ensure the organisation’s financial reports are prepared in compliance with policies and directives of
statutory agencies.
Ensure adequate fiscal processing and systems to prepare required reports.
Coordinate the all necessary financial audits.
Ensures the completion of tax reporting requirements, insurance reports and other governmental regulation.
Provide technical assistance to accounting and administrative staff.
Ensure regular updates to accounting software and systems are completed.
Be accountable for ensuring departmental policies and procedures are in place and updated regularly to
provide reasonable assurance that the organisation’s assets are protected.
Ensure maintenance of all financial, contract and payroll files.
Oversee long- and short-term debt management.
Be the lead for the organisation’s relationships with insurance providers, bankers and external auditor.
Supervisory responsibilities:
Oversee the recruitment, training and development of accounting and administrative staff.
Ensures completion of all induction and training requirements by direct reports.
Motivate staff to achieve goals through individual and team supervision, coaching, goal setting, training and
staff development, among other strategies.
Review and evaluate staff performance.
Remain accountable for positive client service and accurate record keeping.
Directly supervise Finance Manager, Procurement Manager, Fleet Manager, Warehouse Supervisor and
Administration Officer.
Key Skills:
Required qualifications/experience
Bachelors and Masters in Finance or relevant field
Professional management qualification, in addition to finance qualification e.g. ACCA, CPA
Seven to nine years of experience in finance, a minimum three of which should be at Senior Management
level, preferably in the security industry
Experience in the implementation and management of finance strategies, policies and process
Working knowledge of multiple finance functions including budgeting, cost control, asset management.
Key competencies/skills
Finance professional with a proven management experience within the security industry or a similar field
Enthusiastic and committed approach with a track record of building strong, trust based relationships with
colleagues and stakeholders at all levels, including the customer
A sound working knowledge of finance best practices, an awareness of the dynamics of the external
environment and its effects on business strategy
Strong management and leadership skills together with excellent communication, influencing, negotiating
and engagement skills, with a focus on pleasing the customer
Focus upon the provision of quality services and products as a fundamental element of customer care and
retention
Excellent IT skills with a working knowledge of the range of MS Office packages and knowledge of online
finance management systems.
Sound judgment and decision making skills, with a ‘hands on’, problem solving approach, able to remain
calm under pressure and take control of incidents, pro-active and self-motivated
Experience of writing procedures, drafting reports, preparing business cases and compiling and adjusting
requirements to meet shortfalls in staffing levels
Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently
Excellent planning and organisation skills to meet deadlines and pay attention to detail, with a consulting
mindset
Demonstrating financial acumen in all decision making
Must be honest with a high level of integrity, vigilant and of sound judgment
