This role reports to the Finance Director Partner Markets and Indian Ocean (PMIO)
Context/Scope: Africa Regional Markets is one of the 21 market groupings for Diageo. ARM is made up of over 40 markets across the breadth of Africa. Within ARM there are 6 Commercial sub-market groupings being Ethiopia, Ghana and Cameroon, which are standalone IMC type businesses and then 3 other Hub groupings. Partner Markets/Indian Ocean – (predominantly 3rd party business in West and Central Africa) and smaller standalone IMC’s in Reunion and Seychelles. These markets include several markets with significant growth opportunities, and business development options, and also have high risk profiles in economic, political and business terms. There is a growing presence and importance of Key Accounts across the region, offering opportunities for ever more sophisticated partnership and initiatives. That will demand a significant step change in commercial strategic capability. Sales training programs and overall partnership and efficiency programs are available Diageo wide and our role will be to gain support for them, roll them out and evaluate return. This role will require up to 50%25%20travel between the various PMIO markets in the region.
Purpose of the role: The role holder will: •Financial advisor to the FD/GM on all key business decisions. •Lead the financial analysis of all key commercial initiatives in PMIO •Lead the in-market Strategic Business Review in conjunction with all the sub-markets finance team •Responsible for the delivery of Decision Support tasks – Value Chains, Scenario modelling etc •Ensures financial processes are undertaken accurately, efficiently, on time and that the surrounding internal control procedures are strictly adhered to in line with CARM processes •Ensure finance team complies with the Diageo code of business conduct •Contributes ideas, energy, enthusiasm and support to the continuous improvement of finance processes
Market Complexity: This is a complex region with a mix of in-market, Minority Interest, and 3rd party businesses in both beer and spirit. With some outsourced functions in the Cameroon and Nairobi back offices
Top Accountabilities: •Provide leadership and financial support to all the commercial initiatives within PMIO and all the sub-markets, providing policy makers with clear and accurate financial analysis using models to enable decision making. •Drive Decision Support agenda aiming to maximize value and opportunities across the Hub – including New Business Development, great M&E, RTM and value chain optimization and pricing decisions. •Be a champion of the creation of a strong Controls, Compliance and Ethics agenda and CARM framework of controls both within Finance, but also more widely across the business and ensure appropriate governance oversight is maintained within the business to measure this and react to any shortcomings.
Qualification & Experience: •CIMA; ACCA, MBA or equivalent professional qualification preferred •A proven track record of high performance and achievement of stretching goals with at least 5 years’ experience preferably in a multi-market environment •An in-depth knowledge of the Commercial Finance Modelling Skills •Strong leadership of cross functional teams
