Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Peace Support Operations (PSO) Senior Subject Matter Experts (SME) provide Peacekeeping Operations (PKO) soldier skills specialty instruction to individuals and African military units receiving U.S. Department of State’s African Contingency Operations
- Training Assistance (ACOTA Program training. Senior SME Trainers shall instruct and supervise training in Africa for African officers and their soldiers who shall deploy to PKOs. PSO Senior SMEs should be military or civilian subject matter experts in the MOS or functional area fields they are teaching.
- PSO SMEs shall be recognized or certified as a professional in the fields if medicine, engineering, dentistry, logistics, military intelligence, veterinary medicine, , or similar professional occupations.
- Senior SME Trainers are expected to know or review the U.S. Army doctrine applicable to the task they are responsible for.
- Training will involve classroom and field instruction in austere environments.
Job Requirements
Education and experience:
- Peace Support Operations (PSO) Senior Subject Matter Experts (SME) shall have the following education, experience, and military background unless otherwise approved in advance by the Contracting Officer Representative:
- The Peace Support Operations (PSO) Senior Subject Matter Experts (SME) shall have a unique blend of skills, experience, and knowledge that will allow that individual to best support the goals and tasks of the ACOTA Program.
- Minimum of five (5) years of U.S military operations and training experience required.
- The Peace Support Operations (PSO) Senior Subject Matter Experts (SME) should be a subject matter expert in at least one Combat Arms, Combat Service, or Combat Service Support U.S. Military Occupational Specialty, Branch, or Functional Area.
- Staff experience at battalion or brigade level is required.
- Any combination of training, experience, and/or education equivalent to completion of college course work leading to an advanced degree, preferred.
- Familiar with standard military training concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Preferably an individual with recent U.S. Military combat and/or PKO experience at the 0-4, O-5, or O-6 level who has completed U.S. Military Education Command and General Staff College or equivalent. EOE M/F/Disability/Veterans
