JOB OVERVIEW


Under the guidance of the Mechanical Engineer, operates, maintains and repairs all aspects of the Hotels systems in accordance with IHG standards to achieve optimum operating efficiency of equipment at all times.


Duties and Responsibilities



  • Overall supervision of all mechanical and plumbing works in the hotel.

  • Responsible for the availability and maintenance of mechanical equipment at the laundry, staff canteen, kitchen, plant room, staff lockers, boreholes and tanks and drainage systems.

  • Ensure proper working of plumbing system for water, waste water, sewerage pumps and piping.

  • Ensure proper operation and maintenance of sump pits

  • Ensure and provide a safe working method for use by mechanical technicians

  • Ensure safety precautions are taken in the use and storage of welding gases.

  • Ensure proper connection, use, disconnection and storage of the welding machines.

  • Responsible for supervision of contractor who carry out cleaning of the kitchen hoods, drainages and boiler chimney

  • Plan, allocate and supervise execution of a preventive maintenance program for mechanical and plumbing works.

  • Responsible for replacements and repairs sinks , toilet seats and associated piping in the hotel

  • Ensure energy management of all equipment; through logs and utility data, determine optimal operating efficiencies and take necessary corrective measures when variances from standards are excessive.

  • Support and initiate programs for improvement of procedures and the reduction of energy and utility costs.

  • Analysis and monitoring of energy costs and expenditures for areas and machines assigned.

  • Ensures implementation of physical safety and fire prevention programs.

  • Regularly inspects facilities, equipment and systems and file reports to Mechanical Engineer .

  • Ensures regular service and monitors satisfactory completion whether by contractors or in house maintenance colleagues.

  • Schedules, implements and supervises equipment and related systems preventive maintenance programs and repairs.

  • Ensure workshop(s) are cleaned and are in operating order.

  • Ensures and plans for all preventive maintenance of equipment.

  • Ensures proper functioning of all mechanical and plumbing equipment in all areas.

  • Attends to repair and maintenance of all mechanical and plumbing equipment.

  • Carry out plant work as directed by Chief Engineer or his designate, operating equipment and systems in the plant rooms as assigned.

  • Keep an accurate log of all work carried out and materials used.

  • Bring to the attention of the Hotel Chief Engineer or his designate anything which may affect the smooth operation of equipment, or pipes, Department or Hotel.

  • Ensures punctual attendance and adherence to duty schedules by all mechanical staff.
